PLAY DAY FOR 4 HOURS! Le' gasp!

Hello everyone! i just thought i would make a post of what i did today...well first...i had a lay in and got Merlin turned out, and went up to the stables about lunch time well it was very hot and sunny which makes me in a more creative and playful mood then normal so as soon as i walked up the track i went in to the field called Merlin to the water trough and jumped on him!! dun dun daaa!! i was upset that i had forgot my cam! but oh well i had fun anyway! wile i he was carrying me around i kinda was crouching on his back (half standing up didn't want to stand all the way up!) which he was fine with, i really trust him and trust the fact i know i can A turn to stop or B jump off lol. after going around in the field i went into the school! i had polls cones flags barrels and a tire! sweeeet! Merlin who loves new things was like "cooolness!" and off we went...first we went round the poll maze!! and then we did a few laps of trot and a weave to find a carrot at the end :O and then we went t the tire and he stood on the edge..but it moved and he slipped which made him jump a little bit so before i try again I'm going to make a top for it so he can stand on the whole thing! neat! then we did stick to me from walk to canter to halt to trot to walk to halt to canter, and tried to do less and less each time and of course a odd backup! Merlin was great and had lots of itches for doing things, after being in there for about a hour i went and set down with him, i took his halter off and he just stood there with his head resting on my shoulder and he fell asleep! sweeet!! and then after that i gave him a very good brush as he was a bit sweat from all the running around, and then i went for a long walk and practiced my stick to me game by seeing how slow i could walk how slow i could trot then how fast! i also would back him up and then bring him in at a trot! was really cool and had a great day :)

a few great days!

Hello all! been a great few days! lets see i will start from Thursday (long way back now) i put in the school ten polls 3 barrels 3 cones and a large bit of cardboard...so you want to know what i did with the ten polls 3 barrels 3 cones and a large bit of cardboard? well first i put 4 polls on the floor to make a sundial, i rested two on the barrels and one on the cone to make a odd looking squeeze game the large bit of white card on the floor i made a box out of the rest of the polls. and put a flag in one cone and a hula hoop just kinda chucked in there for more fun! i dragged someone else in with me lol and had all my lines and carrot sticks lined up, and of course went and got my trusty steed Merlin who came running up to have some fun! we started off on the sun dial he did a few good laps at trot both rains so..i went to the squeeze game which he has always had a bit of a problem with, he had about a 2ft gap to walk around, he was a bit worried at first a little bit of yo yo an he squeezed through and then squeezed again with out a problem so i left it as that for that day then we went to the box.. a box? what can you do with a box...? lets see... circle game stop in the box, yo yo in the box, sideways around the edge (didn't work out as great as i thought but was good for a first time) and porcupine the forehand and the hind quarters. i then went to the flag and did friendly with that! i then went to the cardboard now when i first got Merlin the cardboard made him total RBE was really scared i guess its about 6ft by 5 ft and haven't played with it much till i was more savvy, well ...he walked up to it and then stood on it and gave me the question..."this right?" lol. well then i asked him to circle and stop on it again he did and then just left it for a bit of lip licking as and then he decided to trash it lol by picking it up and playing with it :P so that had to go in the bin! after that i did a few steps backwards from zone five, then i did the falling leaf pattern. after all that we were in the zone lol and ready for some playing!! i started to run and of Merlin was right by my side! and i started running from left and right with Merlin in front of me so he was running left and right, i then did the yo yo game i back him up a Little then used my carrot stick and asked for a rear..and he did which is amazing! i love the feeling when you get in tune, very happy with what i had done that day we went and cantered back to the gate and walked into his stall the end of a great day...till tomorrow. Friday... well Friday i didn't have much time as i had been doing extra work so i went in the school played for a bit and then worked on liberty! was great fun he started doing circles around me without me holding the line,it was just resting on the floor.i asked for a turn backup and change direction without holding my 22ft line. was very very pleased with this so called it a day again. on Saturday...it rained all day and i was very wet and cold and didn't feel to well so i got Merlin in early and played in the stall fora bit. Sunday i went out and done some liberty in the field with him.so that's me kinda up to date on what i have done...i hope all that makes sense, if not never fear i will edit it later!

Back to work!

Well today i felt allot better so it was back to work for me..which is great because it means back to spending time with Merlin! but the school was frozen which really sucked because it meant i couldn't do anything in there :( so i brought Merlin in (he was very happy to see me) and gave him a brush and played some friendly game and moving him around his stable (i asked before going into his stable) i still feel ill so i didn't want to do much so i spent the rest of the time i had just hanging around with Merlin :) he had a nice groom a massage and a little something to think about :)

josh and his journey to savvy savvy. how i found parelli and a bit about my life

Well i have been around horses all my life, when i was very young i didn't have any friends (there were no kids were i lived) there was a field of horses behind us and i spent most of my time with them, we soon moved where there were more kids less horses... i very rarely got to see horses for a few years i used to work to near by fields to stroke a few and read allot of horse books!! when i was 12 i got a job helping out at a yard doing odd jobs, spending most of my time just sitting in a field and watching horses, i learnt more then i could learn from reading books by just watching! when i was 13 the yard closed down. for a few years i worked at allot of different yards and stables until the yard re opened and started working there again. i spent a few years wanting to become a vet and studied hard for it, as i swore i wanted to help horses in any way i can and becoming a vet looked at that time the best way to do that the more i studied and learnt the more i realised i was not cut out to be a vet though i still find such things interesting. after that a friend gave me a video called the 7 games which she thought i might like, well i watched it and was amazed i knew then what i meant by helping horses. soon after when i was 16 i got my 1st horse Merlin :) i also got the lvl 1 pack and the L&HB pack, we were soon on our way to build a great partnership!! my dream is to become a parelli instructor to help as many horses as i can.
